1. How do you think the young should prepare for the old ?
2. Is the young actually already prepared ?
3. What aspect should we look into for taking care of the old ?
4. At present, what is the government’s role in this aspect of taking care of the elderly ?
5. With all the problems that the youths of today are currently facing, such as competition from the foreign talents, competition in workforce and in the schools, would the youths still have the time to take care of the elderly ? If so, how can this be resolved ? Does the government anticipate such a problem ? If yes, what measures are the government taking to remedy the situation ?
6. Bringing down the levy for foreign workers, such as maids, will encourage the import of help from other countries, such as Philippines to take care of the elderly (assuming that the help is skilled and trained in this profession), hence relieving the burden on the local youths to take care of the elderly. What are your views on this ?
7. What are the government policies in relation to the elderly in the workforce ? (eg. Retirement age). Some data can be requested from the officer.
8. How can the old take care of themselves ?
We understand that part of the programme of the Central Providence Fund (CPF) is to allow the people who work to have a sum of money to fall back on when they retire. What is the government doing for those who do not have any contributions in their CPF ?
9. Some old-age people are working in places like the fast-food restaurants, either to earn a small sum of money or to idle free time away. However, for the other group of elderly citizens who don’t, what are the incentives that are offered by the government, such as the concessionary bus-fares ?
10. Collect the list of the community centres which sites the integration of a childcare centre and old folks’ home together. Can we have your views on this matter ?
